Just an update, I’ve lost 8 lbs. Still damn cold and icy here(Michigan) so not much running yet but i’ve been really good with the diet, so once the weather cooperates I should start losing weight a lot faster.

This is it, I’m finally going to do what I should have done a long time ago. I weigh 222 lbs and my body fat is 29%. I’m 29 years old and I refuse to be fat any longer. I think I’ve been in denial for a while now and recent events have prompted me to reevaluate my goals. this is definitely my top priority so here goes, hopefully this will be the turning point that marks my return to being the active and fit person I was 10 years ago (has it really been that long?) my plan is the only thing I know of that really works: A fairly strict diet consisting of mainly fruits and veggies plus modest servings of lean protein, no red meat, very limited dairy intake, also increased consumption of whole grains/complex carbs, and for my final act of self denial, i will give up beer! (I cant believe I just said that!)
For exercise I will start running again, this will go hand in hand with another goal of mine; to run a marathon. my initial goal though will be to run/walk EVERY DAY for a bare minimum of 30 min. of aerobic exercise. I will NOT make excuses such as : “I’m tired” or “I’m sore” I will increase the duration and distance of my run as I regain my endurance and fitness. In addition to running i want to start riding my mountain bike again, something i was really into and as I started to gain weight obviously got out of, eventually I might like to ride competitively but we’ll see.
