I took advantage of a 10ยข off each print deal for the launch of Shoppers Drug Mart’s new online photo printing service (and got Optimum points!). I’m very happy with the photos. As much as I am a digital girl, it just doesn’t work as well to bring the laptop over to the couch or pull up my site to share photos (especially to people who I might not want to be showing off particular photos to…). So yep, there’s still no substitute for an album full of photos, at least not until digital photo frames come down in price.

In all my backing up, drive imaging, backing up of backups, etc. before the Great Laptop Format, I knew I’d forget something: fonts! However, if that’s the only thing, I can deal with that.
I’ve been using Memeo and was loving it at first, but when I was bringing the laptop back up, it wouldn’t find the backups to restore them! I ended up having to manually move the files back over and do a search for all the Memeo files it created to delete them. And it’s supposed to be constantly monitoring for file changes, but it didn’t seem to be 100% reliable. So nevermind that program :\

Omg, must do Monday night choreography for the spring dance gala. It’s one of my favourite routines! Two dance classes in about five weeks… so depressing :\ But I bought a class card tonight, so I HAVE to go :) The gala is in about a month. This is doable. Thankfully, I have this choreography on video.
I really want to do two… it looks like I’ll be able to make the Saturday noon class as well, so it may very well be possible. I’ve mentioned to my supervisor that it’s really important to me to be able to get to regular dance classes in the next few weeks.
Oh and the photo is me wearing a $700 costume, taken a few months ago (damn, was that really a few months ago?!). It’s actually the most beautiful dusty purple colour. I keep bugging him to email me the full shot, but I still don’t have it, so I’m just posting this darned one. I got to class early one night and no, I certainly didn’t mind modelling this costume for the website!

I mentioned my goal of one garbage bag per week to Steve last night. I totally think it’s doable. We have this pull out drawer thing that has two garbage bags in it, and I’d like to make one a cans/glass recycle bag and put a compost container under the sink where the recycle bin is now. Paper recycling goes out in the bin on the porch as always. Any composting suggestions? The house came with a few composters out back (WAY out back unfortunately… maybe moving one closer would help) and we’ve used them kinda sporadically over the years.
How does everyone else make composting easier?
Can you compost the recycled newspaper kind of pet litter?

I really love the Buffalo Linkstation. I haven’t had any problems with it since that blinking red light incident. Hopefully it’s redeemed itself. I’ve been using the backup utility that comes with Windows, honestly because I haven’t had a need for anything more than that yet. Just made sure that my email and documents and site stuff was all backed up before the trip this weekend. I don’t like taking my laptop over the border, but c’est la vie… kinda necessary in this case!

So I volunteered to take a couple of a co-worker’s 5pm-1am shifts. He’s been clearly exhausted and he’s a morning person anyway… honestly, while I don’t want to be getting home at 2:15am every night of the week, an extra hour or two really isn’t a big deal to me. But my supervisor kindly reciprocated with doing some schedule tweaking so I can get to two bellydance classes a week for the next little while! With the upcoming May gala, we’re starting to learn choreography, and this is definitely a good thing :)

Well, there’s no time like the present. I posted a link to this list and a friend was trying to talk me out of making baklava. Screw it! It’s my day off! The phyllo is thawing!
