I’m training for my first marathon, the Edinburgh marathon at the end of May 2012.
So far my training is going ok but I’ve lost 5 runs to windy weather this winter, more than I’ve lost to snow!
I signed up to run a half marathon in September for Christian Aid. That has given me the motivation I needed to get out the door.
I’m using the Adidas miCoach iPhone app and it’s great. 5 runs a week and I’m up to 12km on my long run and over 40km a week.
I cycled home from Glasgow yesterday (14 miles). I took my bike in on the train and rode home.
I’ve also started using cyclemeter on my iPhone for logging journeys. It’s brilliant!
So… the right tyres make all the difference!
I bought a pair of semi-slick tyres for my mountain bike because I ride on the roads more than the trail. What a difference.
I’m now trying to ride to work 3 or 4 times a week… even though I work at home!
I’m also using Map My Run (http://beta.mapmyrun.com/profile/3388822/) to log my cycling.
the missus needed the car last night so she dropped me off at work in Wishaw with my bike and I cycled home. I really enjoyed it but my legs were killing me as I’d been for a 10k run in the morning!
As part of my avoiding writing my dissertation I ran 10k today for the first time in 10 years!
I blew my target time of 1hour by 22 seconds but I’m pretty pleased that i got round and I’m still pretty much upright.
Hit 100 balls at the range on Tuesday. Felt good but I’m still not hitting long irons with any kind of consistency.
Left the driver at home!
We watched parts 1 &v2 of the man who cycled the Americas yesterday.
The kids were inspired so we went on a cycling adventure in the afternoon which involves negotiating a swollen river, lots of mud and an ice cream.
I’ve spent the last couple of days working on my dissertation. I’ve set out the paragraphs and made some note but I’ve mostly been going back over the interviews to get a clearer picture of what was said.
I’m getting there!
Been out fairly regularly and starting to build up the distance.
The kids came out for a run with me at the weekend. Ben’s got cross country at school just now so running is his latest thing. Jack just likes running around… lots.
6km sometime today…
Next week is focus group week. I’m meeting 6 groups and a few individuals to collect lots of lovely data… Which I’ll then have to analyse! Don’t plan on seeing much of me anytime soon!
Got out on the bike yesterday with the kids. A gentle ride round Strathclyde Park in the spring sunshine. While we were out we met the local MTB club, greenline. Might look them up…

Ran again today. Not so fast and a bit stiff. Using Nike+ to log my runs. http://my.nike.com/StewCut
I had hoped to play at least 9 holes today but the course was closed because of the frost. Instead I hit 100 balls at the range and most of them went where they were suposed to. The driver is still a bit wayward but better than it’s been.
It was my birthday last week and I got a Nike+ sports kit for my iPod. I calibrated it today on a 2k run and then went for a further 3k. It felt pretty good! Sore legs now though!
