andrew mcmahon is amazing. he puts so much energy into his performances, and i absolutely love when he rocks out/goes crazy on the piano.

How I did it: I had been thinking about getting a tattoo for probably a year before any real discussion of it materialized. The decision was made on a whim with two of my friends from college, and we went out and got them a few days later! It did hurt, but definitely not unbearable--like someone else wrote, it's a bit of a shock at first but it stops hurting as soon as they take off the needle and then it just stings for a while. Make sure to leave the… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Checked it out at the library and read it at home because I felt a little too creepy reading it in public (but that's just me :) ) Make sure you're pretty awake/alert and have time to take in all of the words or you might miss out on his amazingly poetic descriptions. It might be too much to read in huge chunks, but it's definitely worth it either way. Read how I did it…
How I did it: signed up for a service learning program at my school that required 50 hours of service per year.. ended up finding an organization that i loved (campus kitchen) and i have stayed with it even after my program ended--i'm now a shift leader and volunteer at least once a week. now that i have this routine down i want to add on another site!! i’m a huge pack rat, but i’m moving into college in one week. that is what finally motivated me to really simplify. i’ve thrown out a garbage-can-full of posessions that i don’t need, and i still have more to go. it feels really liberating to do this. i was hoping for a great summer after graduating high school, but it wasn’t as great as i would have hoped – i am no longer friends with many people that i was always with in high school. but doing this has been so liberating. i feel like i can finally move on. and i know cleaning isn’t the only aspect of simplifying, but for me it is a pretty big part.
