Our little girl was born on 10 August via planned c-section at 37 weeks. She was born with gastroschisis, her fallopian tubes, bladder and both intestines were outside her body. She had closure surgery on day 8 and came home on day 19. She’s now a thriving 5 week old with a very happy mummy and daddy.
The severity of her condition was made very apparent to us while we were in hospital with her. Another G baby passed away at 7 weeks old. We were very lucky to bring our baby home, and in such a healthy condition.

My hubby and I are expecting our first in August. She’s got a condition called Gastroschis, which is a defect in the abdominal wall. She has a good prognosis, but there is a risk that we might lose her, either before or after birth :(
Looking forward to meeting her though! Due to her condition, she’ll be arriving early, and delivered naturally. If she’s not here by 37wks, the Ob will induce. So I’m expecting her anytime between 30 & 37 weeks. That only leaves me with 4 weeks!! ARGH!
Time to get some baby gear…
