Me and my family didn’t just host an exchange student, but I am currently one in the United States … I think it’s great that people are willing to share their homes and their lifes with you so I want to encourage everyone who wants to host an exchange student because it gives them a great opportunity
Also when you host someone from another country you can learn a lot from them, my family hat guests from the United States, Israel, Puerto Rico and Finnland and there are just so many interesting things you can learn …
A bad thing about hosting (and being) an exchange student is that the organizations often don’t put enough work in as they should … they might be often late with paperwork and aren’t available when you try to reach them
Of course it also depends on luck if you get along with the student your going to host …
I would advise to host first just for a few weeks or month before you decide to have someone living in your house for a whole year, it might be different than you expect but most of the time it will be a great experience
Also there are a lot of future exchange students who are gonna be glad that you decided to give them a chance like this!
