Well, we finally decided to give the ol’ green thumb a try. In April we went and bought lots of vegetables and put them in our planters. It’s been fun to actually see these plants grow. Actually surviving and producing some stuff. Well at least until we got a huge aphid infestation and we’ve been trying to battle those dang bugs. But we think we may have gotten them. We are finally getting a few vegetables growing again. It’s been a great learning experience. So much to learn about the many different types of plants. Learning which plants need more and less light. Which ones need more water or less water. And we’ve definitely learned that next time we will plant less so that we don’t lose some vegetables plants to over crowding. But I guess the best way to learn is by jumping in and doing it and we have learned a lot. We are excited to keep trying, to see what else we might be able to grow.

Well, eating healthy is a good goal, but it’s hard to eat healthy when you don’t plan what you’re going to eat. I’m tired of going into the kitchen at 5pm and wondering what I should have(and feed my family), and often we end up just eating a sandwich or a quesadilla. So my new goal for this year is to plan my meals so that I and my family CAN eat healthy. I want to plan and cook at least four or five meals a week. I don’t eat bad, just not as well as I want to. So planning my meals and shopping for them is my new target for this 2007 year.
Well, I was doing a good job. But my reading has gone down hill now that I have a new calling at church. I am now the first Councilor in the primary presidency program. Teaching sunday School to the primary age children (4-11) once a month. Each of us in the presidency take a turn teaching. So that means I’m not studying like I was before when I was teaching every sunday. I need to be more diligent and study regardless of it being my teaching day or not.
