How I did it: My sister saw that there was a 'roller disco' on the day of her birthday so she decided to make that her party. It was at the same place I used to skate 10 years previously and it hadn't changed in the slightest. I put on some borrowed skates, plopped down the stairs to the rink and off I went - like the hiatus had never happened. Muscle memory. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I got rid of everything I didn't need, and the rest was sorted out into separate boxes and shelved. Lots of shelving! That's the answer. I only have stuff I use regularly or is of significant sentimental value (keep this to a minimum unless you have a very large, unused loft space). It feels so much better. I have floor space. How I did it: I bought the ticket, I got on a train, I got off the train, I got on the tube, I got off the tube, I got on another train, I got off the train, I went into the venue, I danced and sang until every inch of me ached, I exited the venue and got on the tube (helped home by a stranger), last train, got daddy to pick me up as I was slightly stranded. I’ve painted over the canvas painting with white undercoat. It is no more. It’s presence was causing me some severe anxiety. It had to go.
I’ve started on a new piece – a watercolour.
I was planning on getting it done for his birthday but I’m an enemy of deadlines so that inevitably didn’t work out. I’ll finish it in due time. And frame it up nice. Make it look smart.
It might not be exactly what he asked for, but it beats a sharp stick in the eye.
I’ve not picked up my guitar for about two years.
I see it sitting in the corner and I long to be prolific.
I’ll try again one day soon.
