Back when I used to volunteer at retirement homes, the residents there would get together for sing-alongs. They’d sing all their favourite oldies, (or at least they were oldies to me), and a woman who worked there played the piano for them. It was probably my favourite part of the day. I especially remember working in the Alzheimer’s unit, and how much the group enjoyed singing. No matter what level of participation they were able to do, they always seemed so cheered up.

Anyhow, I have this dream of learning how to play all of the oldies that were popular during the retiree’s younger years on the piano, and visiting them for sing-alongs. I’d like to just visit too. I should e-mail the homes I volunteered at and ask them what songs they sang.
