Thank you fidgiegirl for the tip from Dave Ramsey. I have heard a lot about his strategies lately. I bought his book—yes, I did pause and question the $25 purchase in light of trying to save money, but I decided it was a small investment to learn the details. As soon as I starting thinking about the $1000 baby step emergency fund he suggests, I received a $100 travel reimbursement and $50 towing reimbursement. I knew those were meant to go towards that emergency fund. My challenges are impulse purchases, guilt purchases for my kids since their dad and I divorced, and emergency expenses that go on credit cards. I feel like I can get started now and I know it won’t be easy.

My challenge in valuing myself right now is that I am dating someone who is very different than I am. We have a few things in common, but he comes from a very different lifestyle. He does somethings that I don’t agree with or that I feel are unhealthy. I’m having trouble speaking up and risking the relationship for what I believe is right. I know that at some point these things will have to come out and be confronted. We are not serious enough for him to meet my kids and be around them. But I have to address some of his habits with myself and with him if we are to continue seeing each other. I am compromising in an effort to keep the relationship going.
On the treadmill I would tell myself, “Just 5 min.” I would always go for at least 5-10 more in the beginning, building up to 30 min.
Around the lake…the great thing is you can’t stop halfway…gotta finish to get back to the car! :)
