Had a decent time, the other beginner in my class was a nice older lady. I’m wondering if I should lose some weight before doing this too seriously, it would be less to drag up the wall! I have two more passes left so we’ll see if I can get to it before the end of the year.
i started a new HIIT (high intensity interval training) program which really feels like it will be something i can stick with. It’s 12 minutes a day, which is 100% doable and doesn’t leave me too sore or tired to do additional activities I enjoy when I have the time (like rock climbing or dance or hiking).
So far, I’ve lost 2 lbs in a week and a 1/2 or so, but some of that is definitely period bloat, so I don’t want to be too optimistic.
Goal is to get this done by the end of the year.
Turns out there are tons of places to get your baking on here in the Bay Area. I found some courses and will be signing up as soon as I get paid next month:
Signed up for online management, but need to get dad to hand over the reins
Paid off one credit card! One left to go!
I get so many charity emails but kept ignoring them. I just gave $20.00 to a grad school classmate’s charity for Afghan scholars and set up a sustaining $10/month to the local children’s hospital which was in danger of closing a while back. It’s not a lot, but now that it’s being taken out automatically, I know that I can do something even when I’m distracted and busy.
Just ordered a beginners kit off Amazon. Lets see how it goes!
I might actually do this! I talked it up to a few people and then felt like I kind of had to follow through. Pitched it to one of the YPE board members now we are having coffee next week! I am quite happy with myself but let’s see how it goes.
I’ve just started training for the San Francisco 1/2 marathon but I really want to run the Disney Princess 1/2 marathon next February! :D
I’ve started training for the San Francisco half marathon in July!
I submitted an application for the permit lottery for this summer! So if the permit comes through, it will be time to start training in earnest! :D
Stopped trying to force myself to get over my embarrassment and just hired a tutor to help improve my confidence speaking. It’s going well!
Yay, only need to pass the oral exam now.
only the written exam, but that’s something!
have some interviews for great positions coming up in the next few weeks. My goal was to have a job before I turn 26, but if it’s a few weeks late, that counts, right? one thing that is really helping me is ‘what color is your parachute’. I just completed the ‘flower’ exercise and I feel a lot more confident going into my interviews and discussing my skills and knowledge.
i’ve got a little herb garden and I recently read a book on poisonous plants, which was fun. now working on being able to identify more plant in the wild.
I took the exam again last Friday. Really, really hope I have passed this time. I am practicing my speaking skills now to pass that portion.
Books I’ve read this year:
The Great Influenza
Free Food for Millionaires
The Mystery of Capital
Atlas of Remote Islands
I started running at least 20 minutes every other day. It’s not the most ambitious exercise regimen, but I’ve been able to keep it up except for a week when I was at a conference. I have started running outdoors with my dog as well as on the treadmill. Haven’t lost any weight but I do feel good.
me and dad did a little bit of the pinole watershed, it was hot but fun!
