I met a guy on a plane who did this with his wife. They saved up, quit their respective jobs, sold their house, bought a one way ticket around the world, and left. I was totally enthralled by the stories this guy had. It seems like the ultimate honeymoon bonding experience- spend a year living spontaneously and intimately, tired and excited, seeing and doing and loving and hating. It would certainly put life in perspective, and keep one from getting too complacent and settled. This guy didn’t feel the same attachments that we create. He accepted responsibility but had a very fresh and unattached outlook on life that seemed to be a product of his travels.

How I did it: Ratatat concert.. the guy I was standing next to asked me if I'd ever tried before. The venue was packed and we were right next to the stage, so I figured, "Why not?" Read how I did it…
How I did it: Research! Look up upcoming festivals online (a couple months in advance) and shoot emails to the directors. It takes a bit of time to find who to email because volunteering opportunities tend to be buried pretty deep in the websites. It's a great opportunity to hang out with bands backstage and get hear some good music for free! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I had been wanting to do it since 8th grade when my friends brought poprocks to the movies so they could "make out with their boyfriends". I had an impulse purchase one day when I saw poprocks at the cash register and then kept them on my bedside table. I kissed my longtime boyfriend with them.. I would recommend doing this with someone you know well. It was messy and sticky and kind of gross but still funny. I don't think this is necessa… Read how I did it…

I’m sitting in on a class at my University on francophone cinema. It’s too late to add the class, but it will be nice to just sit in and watch French films. I rarely get an opportunity to- and when there is a good french film playing at the local artsy theater, I’m too broke to pay $10.50 to see it.
Signed up for one today! We’ll see whether I actually retain any of the technique. I’m excited though!
