I’ve decided that I want to take a tap dancing class. For a long time I wanted to take belly dancing and perhaps I still will, but for sure, I’d liked to take a tap dancing class first. I’ve always wanted to tap dance. I took tap classes years ago and I think it only lasted 2 years. I was never really good at it, so I don’t remember any of it.
I need to find a dance studio close to my house that offers adult classes. I found one down south a ways; however, I know I’m more likely to attend if it’s close by. Once the new year starts and people are back on normal work schedules, I’ll start calling around to different studios.
So I’ve been thinking about my options as far as how I will go about learning French. I have a few books at home; however, I seem to lack the decipline to actually crack them open and start working through the exercises. For some reason, I feel like if I had a class to attend, it would movtivate me to actually study. Maybe. Maybe not.
While researching my options, I’ve narrowed it down to the two most cost effective choices. I could take courses at UCF or VCC. My prior experience with the French language, would probably place me at UCF level; however, the classes don’t seem to be offered in the evenings. So it’s looking like private language school might be the only option.
Through the Alliance Francaise, I found 36 hours of instruction for $380. It sounds like a large amount of money to place on approximately 4 months of language classes. Although, when it is divded out, it amounts to less than $11 per class. At this rate, it’s looking like I’d spend around $1000 for a year of lessons. I guess I’d have to assess my progress along the way and evaluate if it’s worth the money. Then again, my progress would be dependent on the study time I put forth.
Therefore, due to all my current obligations, I think it might be wise for me to wait until summer or fall 2007. Until then, I can just review with my books I have at home. I really need to start working on motivation. I want to learn French and I need to keep reminding myself to work on it!
