Well, just a little bit physically – place is such a mess all I got done was taking recycling downstairs, picking up misc socks and things from the floor, gathering up dishes from here and there and getting most of them washed. My Pandora Tom Waites station on the background, found I didn’t beat myself up as much as usual when doing a major catch-up.

Instead, things that should have been obvious came to mind, like “Live like I’m camping!” Go ahead and give away most of these dishes so I’ll have to clean up as I go, like when camping. Facing the pile of laundry, “Why not put 3 mesh baskets in the bathroom: dark, light, hand-wash, to make laundry easier?”

Forgot I need to run to Rite Aid while TP is on sale, so this break will be extended, but I’m actually looking forward to setting the timer again when I get back – I found myself going really fast last hour – to see how much I can get done and what additional insights are waiting for me.

It may take me 3 years to get this little studio apartment organized enough so that I can pare down and give away everything that’s not absolutely necessary. Of course it would make my life simpler, probably help my state of mind if I’d go ahead and do it now.

Seems like every weekend I tell myself I’m going to do a major overhaul, then get overwhelmed, find ways to goof off (like staying online all day) which means I don’t get out and do things I’d like to do.

Maybe writing this will make me feel a little more accountable, even if no one reads it but me. SO, I’m setting a mini-goal: log off in the next 15 minutes, spend just ONE hour decluttering with no distractions and see how much I can accomplish, give myself 15 minutes to check in online, including here, recording my progress…

Long been an avid camper, hope to retire early in a few years and take to the road. So far I’ve found a great place for work camping, have joined a bunch of Yahoo Groups to research pros and cons of various types of RVs. I’d love to have another VW Westfalia, but it may be more practical to have something with a little bathroom for full-timing.
