In late January of 2006, I finally got up off the couch and decided to do something about my lack of fitness. It was pitiful starting out – couldn’t do much exercise at all, was in terrible shape. But instead of looking down the loooooong road ahead on the way to fitness, I looked at it this way: I’m going to be a year older a year from now, and I’m going to be standing around, taking stock of my situation. Wouldn’t it be a great present to my year-from-now self to be all fit and trim? Wouldn’t that be cool?
So every day, I workout and think about the present I’m giving my 6-months-from-now self, and how much I’m going to appreciate it then. :)
