I rarely get to bed before 1a.m. and often stay up nearer to 2. I seem to resent going to sleep and wasting all that time I could be “doing stuff”... but then I get hardly any “stuff” done anyway because I am so tired. Every work day at 5pm I realise I could be going home if I’d got in earlier. So my goal is to be IN BED before midnight on 4 of the 5 “school nights” every week. I’ll call it done when I think I’ve managed it for two months straight.

Yay salsa is great fun! Just get yourselves to the nearest class. In Britain at least you usually don’t need to bring a partner. London, Manchester, Birmingham, York and Sheffield all have good scenes that I know of. There’s cuban style: quite african & laid-back, New York style: a bit more broomstick-up-the-back with lots of great turns and quick moves; and L.A. style with more pizazz – lifts, dips, splits etc. There are other styles too which I haven’t really met, e.g. colombian.
In britain you’re likely to meet “cross body” style which is a fusion of Cuban and New York styles.
I have a very weak musical theory background and had very few lessons on any instrument. Now I’m getting into salsa dancing and the mambo music I find I don’t have enough knowledge of harmonics to be able to express myself musically in a convincing way. I’d quite like to patch up that hole.
