much better technically than the first project! The next paver will be sunflowers. Not a super-original idea but the sunflowers in the garden are blooming so I have a good, real-life example to design from. Plus there is inherent movement and flow in the sunflower shape itself.

when I saw a woman wearing glasses who looked really great yet individual and funky. I was taking home food from this great Mexican grill so as she walked over to the salsa bar I went and asked her where she’d gotten them. Ha! Turned out she got them at the optical place about four doors down from the restaurant! Insurance covers 2 pairs every 2 years so I am overdue actually.
is a collection of essays written by parents of special needs kids. Beth loaned this to me when Max and I went to Sam’s birthday party (Sam was in Max’s kindergarten class). I couldn’t read this all in one sitting although it’s engaging enough to read nonstop. It’s just a lot emotionally; lots of joy, extraordinary accomplishments, incredible honesty and some heartbreak. One mother said to her son “your brain works differently from most peoples. Doctors call this autism.” I like that it’s factual but doesn’t make it a big deal. For myself – unless Max mentioned autism I might leave the label out of the explanation. Reading this made me appreciate all over again what a great kid Max is!
