stop using shampoo
The start of something new...

Today I was looking up on the internet how to get my hair to be soft, silky, shiny, and less oily. I came across a page on the no-poo method. I was fascinated by how much people’s hair improved the way I want mine to just because they stopped using shampoo, and instead used baking soda and apple cider vinegar. I did a ton more research and decided that I would try it. So my plan is to use 1 tablespoon of baking soda in a cup of water as my shampoo, and 2 tablespoons of ACV in a cup of water as my rinse/conditioner. The first 2 weeks I will wash my hair every 2 days, the next 2 weeks every 3 days, and so on until I am just washing my hair once or twice a week. HOPEFULLY my plan will work! I am sick of having frizzy, damaged, boring ugly hair. I am also going to give up styling products and heat devices completely. No more leave in conditioners, scrunching gels, shine sprays, flat ironing, blow drying, or curling. Sigh. I’m very worried about the ‘detox’ stage. My hair is already oily, how can it get much worse than this?! How will I be able to go to school with disgusing greasy hair?! Well I guess braids are going to be my new best friend!

Soo today I guess was the last day of using shampoo and styling and heat products. I showered and washed my hair using a ton of shampoo, scrubbing my scalp for almost 10 minutes being sure to enjoy the last of my good hair days for a while. Then I used a handful of conditioner and left it in for another 10 minutes. Then I straightened my hair. This will be the last time in a long time that my hair will get to be silky and straight and smooth. I’LL MISS YOU!! Tomorrow will be my Day 1, since it is the start of the week. I won’t wash my hair again after tomorrow until Wednesday. Wish me and my hair luck everyone! This will be the start of something new :)
