How I did it: I think the seed was planted with a long walk I took with friends some of whom are runners about a year ago. They could not stop talking about how happy they were when running. For me the idea of running, period, seemed strange and a little unreasonable. But over time, I began to get intrigued by the idea of spending time outside moving my legs around and getting some moderate exercise into my life. How I did it: The great leap forward was - professional help. I got some when family was coming to visit for an extended period. This helped raise the baseline of cleanliness and helped me to recognize what I really cared about cleaning around the place. Next, having regular guests, at least weekly. How I did it: after having this on the list forever I did the following things:- bought running shoes (I pay attention to shoes and have a natural attraction to impractical ones, so just getting a pair of the right shoes for the task was a big step)- started couch to 5K training for a 5K at the end of July. this means I've been run/walking for three-four days a week anyway.- made a pledge to take public transit whenever reasonably possible this summer,… Read how I did it…
