Had an intense two week search for a Wii which I decided I had to finally, absolutely, without a doubt get after Mario Galaxy came out.
I called, traveled, and tracked Wiis in my area with a near obsessive focus. Finally one morning I had a tip that Sears was going to get four in at 8am. I woke up early, headed out there, and there were none in sight. Everyone I talked to said they had no idea when they were coming and if they did they would be gone instantly (thank you eBay capitalists!).
Later that day, after having given up the hunt completely and cursed the process I was heading to taco bell. A game store was right across the parking lot so I decided to head over and get Rainbow Six Vegas for 20 bucks to tide me over until after Christmas.
Low and behold, five Wiis had been delivered 15 minutes earlier.
The search is over! Now if I can just get these essays out of the way so I can play it…

I had an article I submitted to an academic journal over a year ago finally get accepted. I had completely given up on it and put it out of my mind!
It is both exciting and a bit frightening to imagine that ideas I generated so long ago are now going to be made public. I feel like a lot of my positions have changed, but I guess that’s the nature of academia. Everything you write, in some way, is representative of a very specific time if your thinking.
However, I now know to keep this in mind when I read other people’s work!

It is one of those things that I have always been interested in but never got a chance to pursue in college. Now that I am in graduate school it is often alluded to or touched on briefly but never sufficiently discussed. Anyone have a suggestion for good books to read to get a beginner’s grasp on how to understand and “read” architecture critically?
