Of course I am further behind than where I’d like to be, BUT I have done more already than last semester! I feel way more ontop of my studies this semester; I’m sure largely in part to being more confident and comfortable in my classes, having one semester already behind me. And I am enjoying my classes much more this semester :)

How I did it: I got secretly married so that I could be marked independent on my FAFSA. My love for my secret husband comes so easily that it seems to be an innate faculty that I harbor for him. Ironically, the change in status did not even yield much financial benefit. However, I am happy to have paid for all of these things, despite not going to Rome after all. How I did it: Well, I did two approx. 30 page papers; the first I was assigned last fall semester, and the second was from last spring semester. I started to think along Thoreau's line "how vain it is to sit down to write when you have not yet stood up to live", and got very intellectual, started only thinking about being a European expatriate, and became a terrible student. I can’t believe I havent gotten rid of this goal. Of course, I love the Italian language, and Italy, but just with everything else I have to do. However, I am now in a Renaissance class where everyone, but me, speak Italian fluently! And I quite love the class. So we’ll see.
