Gustatory Delight

I have seen a lot of food blogs, some by my fellow Filipinos, others by foodies from other countries. And all have brought the same effect on me, they all made me salivate and want food more. Well, I am no glutton. I just love to eat. I love to smell food. I love looking at them (be it in pictures or the actual thing). I love to feel their texture in my mouth.

If there’s one thing which makes me really sad is the fact that others do not share the same pleasure as I do with food. It’s a fact that there are people around the world dying of hunger. In as much as they want to eat, poverty gets in the way from enjoying the right to food. On the other hand, there are those who can afford to have food on their plates yet would rather choose to starve themselves for fear of getting “fat”.

Anyway, one thing I’ve noticed about the food blogs I read especially those written by my fellow Filipinos is that they feature more of those that seem to appeal to middle to upper class. Most of the restaurants are high end which only the rich can afford. I often drool over the pictures but cry in disappointment since I can’t afford to eat them.
They don’t feature much of our “own” Pinoy cooking. Home-based or small businesses are not given too much exposure.

That’s why I want to put up my own food blog. It will be different in the sense that it will feature hole in the wall eateries. It will showcase Filipino cooking. Pictures will surely make people drool but won’t leave them disappointed because they know they can afford them. My blog will celebrate the best of our food culture.

I am soo excited about this!

live in New Zealand
home away from home

I have always been dreaming of someday running away with the man I love and live with him in New Zealand. I have several friends who migrated there and based on their stories, it really is a very calm, clean and quiet place to live in. All my life I have lived in a polluted country (air, garbage and noise just to name a few) and I so want to finally be free from all these deadly stuff.
I want to experience a life which is different from what I have been experiencing for the past 27 years. My partner is open to the idea of migrating there. As of now, we just don’t know how to actualize our plans.
It’s always the country I have in mind whenever I think of running away.
