I’ve been blonde (you get more drinks bought for you), I’ve been brown(fewer drinks, but the men who approach actually want to converse), I’ve been black (people seemed to think I was way funkier than I am, and either intimidated or totally into it), I’ve been red (popular with everyone but my boyfriend, unfortunately) and I’ve been purple. For purple, I have no conclusions – it was generally just ignored as a stunt.
I don’t really have any excuse for not doing this. Work is only 5 or so miles from home and it doesn’t often rain, except in winter.
My excuses are that I don’t have a good commuter bike – just a fancy road bike – so it feels like a whole production with extra shoes and all that.
Second is I tend to work till well after dark and I don’t have a decent light or feel particularly safe even with one.
Last, I have to dress pretty well at work and we don’t have showers. This is why my goal is once a week – I’m going to shoot to ride on “casual Fridays” – but still, it limits my happy houring options.
