OK, so it’s been a little bit since I started this. I’m through my first 760 tracks and so far it’s been really fun. I’ve found that a) I like almost everything in my collection so far and b) I don’t miss the albums that are played already. Knowing that I’m listening to everything one time and then it’s “going away” makes the choosing and listening quite different but adds an extra dimension of fun.
I have 4959 items to go, but I buy music regularly so the list of unplayed is both growing and shrinking at the same time. Hopefully I can keep my listening ahead of my purchasing.

I’ve decided to attempt to actually listen to my entire iTunes library. I reset play counts for the entire thing and made a custom smart play list for items that aren’t podcasts, aren’t books, and have a playcount of 0.
I’ve made a couple of ground rules. I’m going to keep albums together and listen to them whole, not shuffled. I’m not going to listen to them in any particular order, just going to pick through what I haven’t listened to yet for whatever looks most appetizing and I won’t stop until everything is listened to, even when I add new stuff.
