and it is pretty cool. I’ve taken over an older seaside app. I need to update it to the latest version and redesign the UI.
Sure beats hacking Java.
Oh yeah, I wrote http://badpage.net in seaside.

My grandma died 4 weeks ago and we just got everything settled so I think I know how you feel.
Its very sad to lose someone like that and knowing they had a full life isn’t much consolation.
Hugs 2U and Stay Strong.
As usual, one maintenance item leads to another – I now have complete confidence in my engine/fuel system/drive train. That’s worth something.
Summer weather is on and the sailing has been great. Taking a little weekend trip next weekend.
Also, the foundary finished my castings for the deadlights for the foreward hatch. Been building away the last couple days – should be done in another week or two.
Although it gets a little hot at times.
Also, waiting for music software to catch up is annoying – but its coming.
I’ve done this twice. In both cases we were together and when I realized I was really committed she bailed and I was totally miserable.
It just makes you insane. Years later I still don’t quite feel whole again.
I don’t need that again.
because they learned a few tags years ago. The problem is there are several specifications or “flavors” and they have evolved quite a bit since the addition of CSS.
I wrote http://www.badpage.info to help people see that their HTML and CSS weren’t really correct. Maybe it will help you too.
who have great ideas but can also execute. I’m going to hold out for A people this time.
for a seed phase startup. I would have been employee 6. However, after a grueling 6 hour interview, I was told I was “not a fit”. Very depressing as I really would have liked this company and furthermore, it shows me all the things my job could be that my current job isn’t.
So now I’m even more dissatisfied with my current gig.
Feels like summer is slipping away. What was supposed to take a week is now into 3 weeks. Mostly, we are waiting on the yard to do their work. Latest is “the guy who started the job is sick for the last two days”. My response – get another guy. Geez.
Well, after this I’ll know the fuel and engine are in top shape.
But I’d like to have some French too. I speak passable Spanish in a minimal way – functional but not conversational. I speak commerce level French. Just need time/place to study. Perhaps on the great journey. There’s more than a few cruisers hanging out at language schools in Mazatlan and similar ports.
I got out the heat gun and scraper and scraped all the sections where the varnish had failed over the winter (it turns light yellow and comes away from the wood). Spot sanded and put on 4-5 progressively thicker coats. Next week I’ll sand the whole thing and put on 2 coats overall and call it good for the year.
sometimes. Some kids just want their ‘A’ grade and will whine for it as if you are being cruel by witholding it. That part is a drag.
The students who want to learn are the most rewarding. I’ve taught a night school class a semester for years and always find I learn something both about my subject and about relating to others.
and I had to move to Seattle to make a living.
I’ve become kind of addicted to living by the water anyhow, but I loved living in Denver.
I visited Rio for a few days a few years back and they hang glide down to the beach. I tried to hook up for a tandem ride but the winds never cooperated.
I will try again sometime.
in the world doing this.
And you never know when you might be somewhere strapped for cash.
I went to the world freefall convention and they had a Bell 412 you could jump from. The ride was a blast sitting in the door with our legs dangling out flying fast and low hedgehopping over the Illinois corn fields. Often involuntarily lifting our feet as it looked certain that they’d get whipped by the top branches of the trees between the fields.
Several maximum performance climbs and dives were performed as well and then a jump from a dead hover at 6000 feet. Very fun.
I’ve got a car, but its a beater. A 17 year old volvo I picked up off of eBay for cheap. I drive it on weekends only. I take public transport to commute to work. If there were better public transport on the weekends, I wouldn’t even own this one.
I’ve owned new cars – they cost a lot, you worry about them getting messed up, you feel obligated to fix every little ding. Life is too short to worry about things like that.
