There is no secret! 3 years ago

Since moving here, I’ve accomplished this goal (very nearly). Everyone I work with always asks me, “What are you doing?? You’ve lost so much weight, what’s the secret?”

News, people: there is no damn secret. I go to the gym three times a week, try to eat less calories than I burn, etc. I don’t visit the vending machine, don’t drink a lot of soda (1-2 cans a week), and don’t get fast food, mainly because I don’t like any of those things. I’m not on the South Beach diet, I don’t consume a lot of red meat. I have a doughnut if I really want one, take my time with meals, and avoid diet pills.

There isn’t a secret. It’s just common sense.

live passionately
Passionate living... ok, set, go? 3 years ago

There has to be a MSN help-guide somewhere for “living passionately”. I need ideas here!

I guess maybe I should start by listing some of the things I’m passionate about. Games, sometimes. Antiques, books, education. Sex, at times, or sexual knowledge. I’m passionate about animals, about cooking (sometimes), about art.

If I think of a “passionate woman”, I think of a woman who drinks wine every day because she loves the taste. I think of a woman that whistles and sings when the mood strikes her, that laughs and celebrates every moment of her life and all its inelegant moments, yet at the same time can be elegant, suave, and smart. Her eyes would sparkle and her laugh would be contagious, yet she possesses the single-minded passion of an artist, capable of ignoring life in favor of art. I think of her as beautiful, I suppose, and myself somewhat lacking.

The overall thought, though, is someone who takes pleasure in every moment life gives, who drinks wine because she wants to, who paints or draws or sculpts or plays because she loves to, who makes everyone feel special and adored. I also equate dancing with passion, I feel you can’t have one without the other, because dancing – alone or with someone – is passion made visual.

In a way, passion is abandonment, and so the challenge would be letting go.
