We worked on the kitchen yesterday. It’s weird when it’s not your house, but so much needs to go, so it feels like there’s a veto on your decision.

How I did it: I realized after bailing out on a new job due to anxiety that it was really a problem, and that I needed to do something about it, so I sought some help and started seeing a cognitive behavioral therapist.CBT was absolutely the key here; it wasn't what most people think of when they imagine therapy, with a couch and pointed questions about your parents. The core of our work together was a fear hierarchy, a numbered, ascending list o… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I've been in the habit of exercising regularly before, so for me this was more about getting back into old, good habits. Before this time around I had karate as a motivator, and I think a big part of me being able to do this was getting energetic about working out just for the sake of working out. It's been going great! My girlfriend and I go together; Right now I'm mainly doing strength, but I'm mixing more cardio in. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I looked around for low-cost clinics near me, since I am broke, and found one that is staffed by students who have gotten their masters' degree and are working toward their doctorate; the website is in the resources section.I called and set up my intake, went and did it, and then I never followed through; that's why it took me eight months. Finally, earlier this week I had a bad panic attack and figured enough was enough, so I called in,… Read how I did it…

First class with Victor today; AWESOME. He’s sorta like James, very intense, very fun, very…hard push, physically.
The main thing he told me to work on was keeping my balance steady; as a small guy, he said it’s easy to push me down or around and I need to compensate for that by keeping my feet more planted.
Another thing he said was to hit the bag harder; not having wraps isn’t an excuse to jut tap it, I need to hit it with intent.
Worked on hooks today and got the first real technical instruction on them. The main thing is that your knee and foot rotate, turning your body to the side. The hook itself is short, and always thrown with the thumb up to prevent a boxer’s fracture.
On straight punches, he told me not to duck my knees down as I twist; I need to maintain my height and rotate straight from there.
I’m shooting to make one night of four at the gym a running night, and tonight I did! I did 3 miles even, taking 26 minutes to do it with a liiiittle bit of incline for most of it.
I think if I keep the 1/4 split up for one more week, I’ll feel I’ve started to form the habit :)
