Lots of work to do, but headed in the right direction!
10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.
Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.
It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.
As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

The first six months of this decade were AWESOME. Then everything abruptly changed and its been hell ever since. So it’s been 6 months of awesome and 14 months of shitty. Time to get my life back on track.
UGH! A complete restart is necessary. I was fine tuning my skill and then stopped playing and completely lost it. Time to restart! My new baseline score is 67. I have LOTS of work to do.
Other issues unfortunately took precedent over this one for many months. However, I am ready to renew my commitment to score below 26 beginning from my new baseline score of 53.
I sorted one section of the closet and have 10 more shirts and 3 more pairs of shorts to donate.
I have 25 shirts and 5 pairs of shorts in bags. I still have two sections of a closet to sort. I already have have more space and am feeling good about this.
I haven’t been “training” like I originally had hoped to do. However, I have been taking a 30-minute walk at least 6 days per week for the past 3 weeks so that’s a good start!
Lately things have been really messed up… both professionally and personally. I need a summer vacation to catch my breath and to try to get it together. It feels like I am living day to day managing crisis to crisis. That’s no way to live. I need to get it together!
There are many things going on in my life right now that are not good. None of them are life-threatening but they most certainly could be life-changing. After a quick trip to the homeland, I have finally realized that I am not in control of the situations and I need to make the best of whatever happens. I probably should have done this years ago, but now I am letting these situations rest in God’s hands.
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” – Romans 8:31
Recently I had an important decision to make and I decided to take the high road and do the right thing. Once it was all said and done, a person that I admire told me that I am “classy” and she likes it. So I am proud that I was the best version of myself and even prouder that someone important to me noticed.
Just got a new pair of sneakers specially fitted at a fantastic store called Roadrunner. Hopefully they will alleviate some of the minor pain I have been experiencing when I have been training.
I can’t take any credit for achieving this goal. My husband surprised me and scheduled the repair. It looks good. Hooray!
I attended a new church today. While its the first time that I entered the building and met the people, the religion was that same one that I was baptized, confirmed and raised with. It felt both comforting and comfortable. I would like to try a few different churches, but I definitely needed and appreciated my experience this morning.
Since 2002, I have traveled to 44 states in our beautiful country. I had travelled to many of them as a child but decided that I would like to acheive this goal as an adult. As the list of remaining states dwindles, it becomes more difficult to go to new states. For example, North Dakota is in the interior of the country and will probably require a large scale road trip to achieve. Alaska and Hawaii are destination vacations and are quite expensive. I probably will travel to Oregon and Washington on the same trip, which I hope is when I drive the Pacific Coast Highway. Last but not least is Vermont. I aspire to take a road trip to Montreal someday and Vermont would be on the way.
I have fallen in love with the Soul Rebels. My favorite song is “Sweet Dreams” which is a cover of the Eurythmics’ version. The band members are good musicians but they are not amazing. Their passion, emotion and love of music is evident and that is what is so appealing to me.
Got snowed in with the nieces and nephew and spent the entire time playing with them!
I am still participating in the monthly book club. I haven’t missed a meeting since the first time that I attended. I really enjoy it!
