Good bye Capital One!
That debt is out of my life, hopefully forever. Now making progress in the 2nd credit card by rolling over the amount that I can pay and taking large chunks out of it.
Thanks to the community here and best of luck to you all!
After the next card then the student loan…

Just sent in the check to bring my Capital One credit card under $500. I’ve been looking forward to this for six months. In two payments it will be done.
Capital One: $364.14
Washington Mutual: $1574.34
Interest is nil on Wash Mu until June and when I finish Capital One I will start rolling money over. The interest payments should be done by 2009 like I planned.

Small things
I continue to send in the minimum payment to my credit card that has the lowest finance charge, while I continue to pay the bigger chunk to the higher interest. I noticed that even the minimum payment of the first mentioned card has brought the finance charge $1 lower this month. I’ll take that small gain. And especially celebrate that I keep making these payments on time. I can’t believe how much money I have spent in the past on fees for missing payment dates. In a way, I am still paying for those mistakes since the debt is still there. Nevertheless, I’d rather look at the positive moves I am making.
I’ve created a calendar system with alarms that helps a lot to keep on track of payments. Paying online also helps, but I’ve learned to also keep checks, envelopes, and stamps in a convenient place, so that not finding them is no longer an excuse.
