Okay, I went to get my first driver’s test done yesterday and got really nervous and reversed too quickly right smack bang into a pole! FAIL! I was disappointed and allowed myself to cry for about an hour, took the day off and woke up this morning feeling positive about my next driver’s test a month from now.
I now know what to expect and will not be freaked out by the entire process. It’s encouraging to know that people fail multiple times before getting it right. There really is nothing to be ashamed about. If you’re reading this and have failed your test, I urge you to not waste too much of your time feeling low but pick yourself up, get back on the road with your instructor and keep on practising. You will come right eventually, I believe you will. All the love.

Okay, the songs are recorded now just need to have them mixed and sorted out so that they are 100% ear-friendly. After that, I’ll put the thing out there.

OK, I’ve written all the songs for the mixtape. Now it’s just a matter of recording. I’m so excited for this man!

One exam left and I hope all goes well. If it does then hey presto, I have a Bachelor of Science degree.

Okay, I have one semester left until I graduate. As long as I continue to work hard and keep my mind focused I’m quite sure I’ll be able to complete this goal.

After starting the stretching routine once again, I’m edging closer toward the goal of completing a full forward split. At this point, it still hurts quite a bit to get down even though I am able to do the split. So when it stops being a pain, we can safely say I’ve done it.
Note to all trying to accomplish this, just keep pushing through the pain. It’ll be worth it in the end and you can finally take it off your to-do list.

I’ll file this under my long term goals but it’s great to dream about in the present.

These kinds of sexist attitudes are ridiculous but it makes me realise how luck I am to live in a nation that has no issue with me driving. I remember the women of Saudi Arabia next time I go for a lesson.

So I know how to clutch control (most of the time), know how to stop (this is a manual car by the way so these things do have complexity at first), can change gears. What I need to work on is handling the steering wheel PROPERLY. All in all, I would say that I am doing quite well and am making progress so with more and more practice I should be able to get myself into gear for the driving test soon but my learner’s expires in June so time is really running. Need more practice!

This is not going to be an easy task but I am halfway there. The great reward of course is flexibility which is an important characteristic to carry along with your body as you grow older. Like everything else, it requires determination and the ability to elevate one’s pain threshold in order to condition the body.
I guess the motivation comes in imagining oneself successfully carrying out one of these maneuvers which is what will inevitably occur after months of stretching everyday.

This is something I have been working on for 4 years now and I do not think it is a process that ever really comes to halt. What I can say is that I have reached somewhat of a pinnacle in the way I think and it’s a victory over an old mind-set that was drilled into me from a very early age. I was told and went on to believe that a woman’s appearance is her most important asset and played this out in my life by having somewhat of an obsession with appearances which many consider completely normal for girls and women to have. This belief system is based on ideas about the sort of roles we should assume in society based on our biological sex.
When I chose to become less conscious about the way my self is perceived by others, it was the exact moment I chose to stop trying to live up to the impossible ideals that the beauty industry generates for the sake of ensuring they have a good cut out of every woman’s salary for cosmetics, surgery, clothing and shoes.
Also, acknowledging aspects of my self that are not physical and reminding myself that these matter more than anything to me regardless of what society says about my position as a female inhabitant of this planet.

There is a great need to encourage women to break away from conventional thinking. Socially, patriarchy seems to be the order of the day in most nations on the surface of this planet and it does women a great disservice. Normalizing patriarchy, as a woman or girl, means accepting a limiting way of thinking and living. Something I do not wish to see in the girls and women in my country and the world over.

As the holidays roll in, reading may start to feel like a bit of an antisocial activity but it might be important as a means of supplement to what I’ll be learning in the lecture halls next year.
So, of course, I will give it an honest shot.

Next year will be the third and final year of my degree program so I have to pull up my bootstraps and make sure that my grades are stellar for the final stretch! In a way I am quite excited because my attitude toward school has changed. I am passionate about learning and seek enjoyment in the process. That’s why I signed up for this entire thing right?

This is more about how one feels about themselves than the actual clothes that they are wearing. You do not have to be in designer clothes to feel good about yourself, it starts within. A mental attitude. I noticed that when I put comfort as a first priority far above looking a certain way in the eyes of others, I felt good in the way I was dressed. At the end of it all, that’s what really matters and that’s what I refer to as getting real style.

I have a foundation for this (I know how to conjugate verbs in all but one of the known tenses, have some grasp on how to place adjectives against nouns and the masculine and feminine nature common nouns etc) so completing it will not be much of a problem. I just need to get some kind of tutor or obtain a learn french CD-Rom or something in order to finish learning this language. Maybe a year or two in France will not be much of a bad idea either.

Do I have an aptitude for this subject. NO! But my mastery in it is essential for the success of my college major. What I find is that my grasp of mathematical concepts improves the more positive my attitude toward it becomes. When I despised it and did not want to even peer over my lecture notes, I failed tests but when I understood it and found it interesting, I grasped the concepts and passed well.
It’s all in the attitude sometimes! I’ll be reading this book extensively this coming holiday!
