How I did it: I was at Dickens on the Strand, an annual Victorian event at Galveston. They were offering elephant and camel rides for $5, so I just had to sign up.I enjoyed it; the beast is pretty tall and sturdy, even though I shook around a bit. I sat on a blue plastic saddle.
