While I probably will never be a “full time” freelance writer (I don’t think that’s possible when you live in New York City, unless you’re a successful novelist or contractual worker), I make nearly $200 extra dollars each month freelancing, which is great. I think if you can just land one good gig it helps a lot. I have also done a fair amount of work for free to build up clips.
Having seen how easy it can be to travel, I definitely plan on doing more of it! My coworker and I bought tickets almost 9 months ago to go to Berlin, Germany. Closer to the flight, however, he ended up landing an internship in London and living there for a month. I didn’t want to fly into Germany by myself to meet him there because I have never been out of the country, so we decided I would meet him in London and then we would go to Paris for three days. It was amazing!
