pierce my lip (read all 2 entries…)
Wow - In Need of Update 17 months ago

So. This whole adventure happened many many days ago. I simply forgot about this account for a while.

I got my lip pierced on January 25th. I went to St. Sabrina’s in Uptown, MN. I believe it is a section of the Twin Cities, but on this matter I am unsure because I am not of the area. I whimped out and got my lip done after winter break when I got back to school.

It was an amazing experience! The guy who pierced me was so nice! I have never been pierced before, so it definitly made me want to do it again. And definitly by the same people. I trust them completely. The price was manageable at $48 with the jewelry. I actually plan on going back when school starts again to get a stud and maybe a new ring depending on how much money I have in September. I don’t trust going anywhere else.

However, this whole situation was not without problems. All my friends were very supportive, saying it just seemed to fit my face. My parents, on the other hand, were not as thrilled. They actually didn’t see it until they picked me up for Spring Break. My mom noticed right away. She was calm. All she said was: “You better not let your father see that…It better be gone by the time we get home.” I did not heed her warnings. So, we’re halfway home, right? Sitting in McDonald’s for lunch when my dad sits down across from me. His face turns bright red. There’s literally fire in his eyes and his lips are pursed so tight I’m afraid they will be gone if I blink. His reaction thus far was much different from my mother’s. He yells: “TAKE THAT OUT…NOW! YOU LOOK LIKE AN ANIMAL!”

Yada yada yada….Guess what? I still have my lip ring. I decided: Well, fuck them. I’m home for 10 days. So I took it out…but only when I was in their presence. No complications to my skin.

It is now Summer and I am still dealing with the same trick. Now that it has healed more, I can leave it our for at least 5 hours without a problem. I usually stay in my room all day anyway, so I can keep it in then. Unfortunatly, my job forces me to take it out.

Life is good though. I love it still. My boyfriend loves it. It stays. And like I said…more jewelry is in my future!

Success with some issues 17 months ago

I have been a veg-head successfully since January. I must admit I made a couple mistakes. The first was accidental because the school does not label its cold pasta salads and ate some shrimp. The other incident involved recreational drugs and irratic impulses of the appetite.

From everything that I have learned, these mistakes are not really mistakes. It’s a learning process. These things were not intentional. The point is I’m doing this because eating meat is not fulfilling to me. If I make a “mistake,” the world not end. The truth is: I cannot be entirely meat free. It’s impossible in today’s society. Being a college student, I don’t always have control over the prepartion of my meals. The goal is to not intentionally consume meat. I don’t worry so much about bi-products, which include fats. This would make my life more difficult that I can bear.

Life at home has also proved difficult. My parents have not been as supportive as they first implied. We are, however, making progress in communicated our concerns. Their concerns involve the costs of such a diet, which I assured them does NOT have to be pricey. My concern was proper nutrition. We have worked most of the kinks out as I discover more low-priced healthy options.

I love this choice. It has been good for me all around. It makes me enjoy my life a little bit more!
