tour japan in a band
Untitled 15 months ago

Hm, I seem to recall reading something online about small indie bands being able to do this and break even – I’d trade 2 weeks of income for a Japan tour. Anyone have any tips on how to accomplish this?

I spent the better part of a month lugging furniture and shit to my new apartment, and I think I’ve built a bit of muscle. Now to keep up with some excercise!

I didn’t really “complete” it as much as realize there were no terms for completing it. Now I’ve got a few discrete tasks that have beginnings and ends that represent this on my list.

This is a continuous goal, and will never be checked off. I will replace it with reachable milestones.

what is 1kyu? 3 years ago

It’s a Japanese language proficiency test that puts your written/spoken comprehension above college level native. I passed 2kyu with flying colors, putting my somewher in highschool-land, but I’ve gotten very rusty. If I wanted to pass 1kyu this december (it is only given once per year) I would need to be single-minded. I don’t think I can afford to be single-minded. I’m shooting for december 2007 to pass 1kyu.

Ruby!!!! 3 years ago

FUCK PHP. Well, maybe not. But with a recent Apple Dev Connection article on Rails plus the AMAZINGWhy’s (Poignant) Guide to Ruby, I’m finding that this weirdcool language is giving me all sorts of “aha moments” that are helping me understand programming concepts that apply across a lot of things. I think after I have a better handle on Ruby I’ll try to learn more Python, as that seems to be the king pimp language of the day. Ruby’s syntax is just so sweet tho!

I will miss living with her, but it was too hard on me to stay. I’ve found a new place with a friend of mine, and will be moving this weekend and early next week.

eliminate clutter
Nothing but pocket lint. 4 years ago

I would like to reduce my load of possessions to the point where I could pick up and move anywhere in the world on, say, 72 hours notice (giving me time to find homes for things I refuse to give up but can’t reasonably lug (guitar amp)). First step was sell all bulky computers and buy iBook.
