So I started with 1k, and decided to build on that until I had 6 months of living under the mattresses. I was up to $2kish, when I had to have surgery. I figured it might cost something since insurance never really covers it all, but as soon as they took me off of the anesthesia, they hit me with a $600 “deposit.” Then my cat needed emergency surgery the very next day—$1600 worth. He’s ok, I’m ok, but my emergency fund has about $20 bucks in it. At least it was there when I needed it.

She was very pretty in person, and I was so excited to finally get to meet her after waiting in line for over an hour for her to sign a ridiculously huge copy of her new book. She started to talk to me, but I was too distracted to listen as my husband was getting yelled at by security for doing exactly what I told him not to do. All I heard her say was “Happy Birthday” as I turned, in horror, to see my husband being told off by her security team for taking a photo. Part of me is pissed that he ruined the moment, and then part of me can’t stop laughing about it in hindsight. Always in hindsight.
