When Fighting a fire you use all of your senses except your eyes. As soon as you step through a door of a house that is on fire, you find your self in white out or black out conditions. Communication is nearly zero because you can hear people talk, only blunted screaming can be heard. Heat, cracking sound and glowing fire can help you locate the seat of the fire. Composesure is a must. You must constantly fend of the thought of uncertainty and disorientation. Sometimes the heat can be described as a wall, who’s weight can force you to the ground. The real critical monents at the point of contact though seem like they are over in a flash. Adrenalines effect I guess.

I just signed up to this website because i saw a thread about firefighters. Since I am a firefighter, I felt complelled to write about the job and how one can become a firefighter. Wouldn’t you know it, within one hour a nice young lady gave me a cheer. That was cool. Thanks Kelbelle. Look forward to reading about everyones goals.

Its kind of sad, I forget about the stars. I used to read and watch shows about astronomy when I was a kid. Now I,ve lived in the city for so long, I forget they are there. I’ll take a little peak tonight.
