Lose 10 pounds
On my way... 3 years ago

For my birthday my mom bought me a pair of running shoes and the entry cost for a local gym I’ve been wanting to join… I pay the monthly fee of $20, so it’s really quite affordable. Anyways, this week I’ve gone 3 times – the first time I didn’t do very much, the the other 2 times I walked 3.25 miles in under 50 minutes. So I’m quite proud of myself. I’m going to start doing some work with weights as well, but I have to figure out how to do the machines.
My goal is to work up to running and doing some weights each time – about 3 times a week.
In my ultimate bit of nerdiness I did my walking to a Rick Steves travel podcast. I know, it’s nerdy, but if I listen to music I end up wanting to dance and then I’d probably fall off the treadmill and break my neck. So Rick Steves it is.
Also, I’ve been watching my eating habits and have changed A LOT of them in the last few months. I’ve not weighed myself yet, but I think I’ve probably lost a little bit. My clothes are fitting better and I do look a little slimmer.
I think I’ve almost met my goal!!

Learn to knit
Knitting Stress 3 years ago

Since knitting is all the rage now I sort of want to learn how to do it.
For Christmas my mom bought me a lovely knitting basket, some pretty pink yarn and bamboo needles – as well a a gift certificate to the new knitting shop in town.
That was December, and it is now March. I haven’t had time to go by there – the gift certificate is enough for some lessons, so I REALLY want to use it.
Anyways, I feel quite quilty about my mother buying all this for me and not yet using it. I keep trying to go by the shop, but I never have time.
My goal this week is to stop by one day – and then arrange my lessons. I’m on Spring Break, so instead of classes, hopefully I’ll be learning to knit.

Buy a new digital camera
Done! Sort of... 3 years ago

I was planning on buying a new camera for myself… but instead I got one for Christmas. I’d asked for one of course – priced it, compared brands, and figured out the exact one I wanted.
I’d hinted to my dad that I would like one, but didn’t really expect him to go for it. Or at least not like my price range – I’d even offered to use the amount he was willing to spend towards a camera and I would cover the difference.
He acted all weird and kept teasing “oh, I don’t think we’ll be buying cameras this year” – lo and behold, Christmas morning, there was my shiny new Canon SD550 – with a 1GB memory card!!!
My old camera seems so clunky to this tiny beauty – the screen is huge, the resolution is amazing, and my little memory card is less than half the size of my old memory card.
I’ve used it a bunch already – I keep it with me in my purse. I can’t wait to take it with me over Spring Break – to Madrid!
This year is definitely looking up.

  • I know the picture is crappy, but I don’t have any pics of the camera itself yet.
