I have a terrible fear of heights, and I never knew what to do to get over it. I’d thought about rock climbing before but never imagined that my fear would be an issue. Somehow the wall never looked that high until I gave it a go :)
2 weeks ago, I saw a bunch of people climbing an outdoor wall at the park near my place and decided to go for it. All went well until I couldn’t go any higher and had to let go. Vertigo got the best of me and it was only after a lot of psyching myself up that I made a second attempt—I managed about 6m, tired muscles, shaky fingers and all. That’s when it became a challenge to face and hopefully conquer my fear of heights.
On days when I felt too chicken poop to climb, I tried bouldering on the bottom panels to improve my technique without having to worry about heights. Really useful in building my confidence!
Only 3 climbs so far, my personal best being a pretty straightforward 9m wall, although I still get the nerves every time I think about climbing again.
Let’s just hope I dont give up!

I’ve always wanted to learn how to ride but never did get around to it. So when a friend told me about a little new equestrian club by the beach, I popped by, fell in love and signed up! I was a little scared at first, and still am a little nervous before every lesson but that’s what makes it so exciting.
I’ve had three lessons so far and already it’s been an exhilarating experience :) I did go home after the first day wondering if I could really hack it, but I knew this was going to happen so I bought my own gear just so I wouldn’t chicken out. God knows how much that paid off!
My horse is pretty gentle with a cool name I adore – Mafia. He tried a few tricks on me the first lesson, but once I got over my fear and showed him who’s in control, things got better.
It’s just an amazing feeling to leave the club each time knowing I’ve learnt something new, that I’ve conquered a little part of my fear and am actually doing well in it: getting onto the horse, holding the reins right, keeping the correct posture, learning to trot… All very cool :)

It’s really time I get my act together and do this before it gets harder.
I can and will do this!
Tonight I’m going to sit myself down and go through all the required documents and complete the application and submit it before the end of next week! :)
