1. I am grateful that we have managed to get through the first week and a half without my father better than I anticipated.
2. I am grateful for family and friends who helped us before, during, and after his death.
3. I am grateful that my relationship with my him got better in the years and months before he passed.
4. I am grateful that he did not have to suffer very long. It is the one plus side of all this.
5. I am grateful to still have my mother and my 2 sisters and I feel lucky I did not have not had to experience losing more than one at once.

This is on AFI’s Top 100, but I cannot understand why. It was a dreadfully boring movie. The underlying theme of the extravagance of the cabaret versus the Nazis coming into power in Germany was good, but I could not understand all of the praise lavished on this movie. Liza Minnelli did nothing for me. I think I even hated her character. I did not like the way John Grey’s face kept popping in all unusually and abruptly. There was no flow at all. Maybe that was the point. I just thought it was an okay movie. Nothing to get so excited about.

Someone from my mom’s church brought over this delicious vegetable casserole. I have got to get the recipe so we can have it again. Scrumptious.
