i’ve found myself listening to a lot more rock after a long stint listening to electronica while in grad school. so much so that i got the itch to learn to play me some guitar.

i decided to go with an electric (the squire strat starter pack) cause i want to play rock songs. so between the fender way (included with the pack) and about.com’s beginner guitar lessons, i’m plodding my way through teaching myself. The hardest part is making myself practice every night.

I have been really, really fortunate to have travelled to all 50 states with a variety of musical and rock tours over the last 10 years. Granted, I may not have been in the state (North Dakota) for a full 24 hours and in many places I wasn’t even able to get out of the theatre (either loading-in, loading-out, or sleeping) but I was always amazed at the variety of beauty in the different parts of this country. Each region truly has its own feel to it, its own style. Its awesome.

North Dakota, incidentally, was the final state for me in 2004. Only one tour out of the nine that I was on went there. Played the “Rock the Hills” Festival in Bottineau.
