I was recently inspired with an idea for a historical novel. I have the characters in my mind, and I know the basic sequence of the story. Now…the hard part. Firstly, I want to be accurate and there are many things to take into account – the subtleties about how people related to each other at that particular time – men and women, people within families, people of different races and cultures -as these are all important aspects of the story – as well as the accuracy of the area where it is all taking place at the time. The other aspect will be actually physically writing the story – deciding on a point of view, what to do stylistically. Currently I am doing research, reading books about the era in question. I occasionally play with a piece of dialogue between the characters. I realize that this is going to be a long term, and occasionally frustrating project, but I am quite excited about it.

Well, I’ve begun a preliminary recording of my music so that I can hear it and arrange it. A friend has been kind enough to help me on his home recording equipment. I have had a lot of fun doing harmonies with myself. It’s thrilling, actually. But even more thrilling will be the moment when I have a demo project that I can hand over to the musicians who I want to work with so that they can hear my concepts and add their own parts. Stay tuned.
I decided that it was time for me to have a website. I purcahsed a domain name through Yahoo and it was very easy! I was delighted to know that my own name was available. They even have tools through their small business site to help you build a website. I’m still working on a website, but as a relatively low tech person, I really don’t need anything but my computer to put together a pretty decent looking site.
