I finally realized that I don’t really want to “decide” what to do with the rest of my life. For a long time I thought that it was definitive but now realize its constantly evolving and readjusting…
I honestly don’t want to know…I just want to see it unfold.
Fantastic instructors!! Its easier than it looks to do! First hour is hard but it gets better!!
I saw the most amazing tigress while on jeep safari in Ranthambore Park, India.
She was 5+ feet away from the open jeep I was in. Every nerve in my body was buzzing when i saw her. Incredible!
Be diligent about exercising – try to walk, jog, bike whatever at least 5-6x/week
Watch your calorie intake – even if its a mental tally during the day. If you have a big 1000 calorie bag of reese pieces – that’s pretty much your meal for the day
Weigh yourself daily – you will have ups and downs but keep track of your average over the week
Allow yourself treats still..otherwise you’ll binge
I swam with dolphins in Isla Mujera (sp?) near Cozumel in an enclosed area. I went looking for dolphins off of Zanzibar to swim with them in the wild but we couldn’t find any.
People think that dogs and cats have it good sleeping all day, but I think that being a dolphin would be a pretty good way to spend the day.
I wish I could swim like they do.
I carved a picture of my chihuahua thinking that no one would know what it was-but everyone did!
My one year old long haired chihuahua-Funston is my angel. He’s my personal cheerleader and greets me everyday when I get home with such enthusiasm and love that turns my frown upside down!
I felt sick watching that much T.V. but it has helped me take part in all the crazy theories on the message boards. :-)
My husband and I went on safari in Tanzania for 10 days. I felt like I was on the Discovery Channel! We visited 4 different National Parks – Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti, and Lake Manyara.
Each park was unique in its fauna and landscape and had different concentrations of animals.
We were very fortunate to see the “big 5.” I went there without any expectations because I didn’t want to be disappointed if I didn’t see the animals I was hoping to see, but every day we were pleasantly surprised. The highlight was to see not one but two leopards (chui in Swahili) and one had a kill in the tree. They are very elusive so it was most unexpected.
The great Wildebeast migration was taking place when we were in Tanzania – 2 million of them from as far as the eye can see. They are smelly, noisy creatures but are interesting to watch migrate in single file and many other animals join them in their travels.
My favorite animal turned out to be the baby elephants. There was one we saw that was brand new and just figuring out his limbs and his surroundings – he was very comical. :-)
Some advice for anyone planning a safari – use a reputable tour planner that will ensure you are taken care of from the moment you arrive in Africa to the minute you leave. We used Go2Africa.com and were very glad we did. Think hard about whether you want to go on safari in a vehicle with other people or if you want more flexibility by having your own car and driver. Lastly, make time to try and visit or talk to people from some of the local tribes – they live with the wildlife there and have a good perspective on how things have changed over time.
Don’t forget to bring the best camera you can and binoculars!
