I applied to one shelter which required all kinds of things, like personal references, vet and landlord calls, even a home visit. The fact I live in an apartment is not a good thing.
Mostly I got turned down for financial reasons. For over a decade they’ve been a mess. I only got my dog from my mom for my 14th Birthday and when it came down to the end my parents footed those bills too.
I’ll leave this on my list for awhile but I don’t think the situation will ever improve. That’s too bad. I grew up with dogs and three years without any is an empty life. However if I can’t afford vet bills then owning one would be selfish.

How I did it: We have a pool in our apartment building. After hours you just call to have the superintendent unlock the door. I'm going to try for three times a week for at least half an hour. Just went today for about that long. Read how I did it…
How I did it: It was Canada Day, hence alcohol was readily available. Unfortunately I mixed lemon beer, a vodka jello shot and a gin & 7. I'm not much of a drinker, never was, never will be. Didn't puke but did feel really awful. Read how I did it…
How I did it: When a couple left we took over the main bedroom and were sharing a house with 2-3 others for a year or so. Then we found our own apartment. We like to call it "The Penthouse", but it's one of many on the 13th floor. Read how I did it…

I got rejected a couple of years ago but now I may have more of a case. I’ve certainly got a lot more evidence of my inability to work full time like a normal person. Thing is I have to apply with my common-law spouse this time, which is also going to hurt my drug benefit program I’m in. He doesn’t even pay for my perscriptions, neither do I. My dad helps, and he will retire soon. So I need garunteed income for certain.
