Union square... yesterday...

I was waiting for my boyfriend in Union Square when suddenly I was stopped by a scene.
There were 6 women lying on the ground. They were protesting against 6 US Marines who raped a 22 year old Filipina. The signs went on saying that there was nothing done to these Marines and were granted safe passage back to the US for one reason or another.
You sometimes forget that there is far worse things in the world because you live so far away from such things. This woman could’ve been me, or my sister, or someone related to me. It scares me and makes me wonder what gives people the right to treat others this way. I know there are reasons… but it is just not the right reasons.
