So I’ve decided to start out with a half marathon and then attempt a full marathon.
There’s a variety of reasons I’m making this adjustment:
1. The ING Atlanta course is very hilly and last year it was 82F and humid. The Georgia heat is no joke!
2. I’m currently still holding pregnancy chub and have not run regularly for 18 months now.
I really think that completing the half marathon is a safe goal for myself all considered. It’s still a big challenge and I’ll be proud of myself when I complete this goal.

So laying in bed while watching The Biggest Loser I decided I really want to run my first marathon. After checking out the Atlanta race guides I found the ING Atlanta Marathon for March, 30, 2008.
I’ve always liked running and I love how it requires no equipment, just me and the pavement – and a good pair of runners.
I also found Hal Higdon’s Novice Training Program which looks awesome. Not only is it free but it’s been used by thousands of other runners successfully.
I need to get a good pair of shoes and one of those water belts, maybe also pedometer. As a nice alternative there’s a great page called American’s Running Routes that let’s you plan out your running route using google maps and it will tell you how long the distance is, great tool.
I’m going to start training on Tuesday, I’ve got 18 weeks of hard work ahead of me.

I did join the World Gym by the house but it’s challenging to make it there regularly with a busy partner and a baby. There is daycare although Siera doesn’t love it I just need to go a litte more consistently and I’m sure she’ll adjust.
