We’ve had two boys (6 and 11) in our home for three months now. They are brothers and also have sisters in foster care at another home. It’s been a whirlwind of an experience for us, but well worth it. There’s no set time yet for when (and if) they will be reunited with their parents. But for now, we’re raising them as best we can.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how good it feels to do this. We wanted to become foster parents in order to help children, but I think it’s really helped me be a better person.

We officially became foster parents this past month. It was a long process including extensive parenting classes, background checks and home inspections. We received our first placement a couple of weeks ago. A four year old girl was with us for a weekend because her current foster parents had to go out of town. Overall, it was a great experience and we’re looking forward to our next placement.

Now all I need to do is publish one of my knitting patterns.
