Quit Smoking

I have been an avid chain smoker for about 9 years now. I have never really had the urge to quit, other than the fact that my gf hates it, and constantly reminds me of this. I have always said that if Camel discontinued my smokes I would quit. well sure enough they did. Evil tobacco company.

I have to quit based on principle now. I have been chewing the nic gum everytime I get an urge to smoke. This whole process of quitting is a lot easier than I thought it would be. Not that it is easy, I just remind myself that it is a habitual behavior and try to do anything out of the norm to switch my brain trigger. I notice smokers much more often now. I am 5 days running with a ciggy. :(
I want to smoke, but I just remind myself that it is principle.

I have studied a lot about psychology, and a big part of me is worried that this is simply a personality trait that I will never lose. Yet it affects every aspect of my life in a negative way. I rarely see the positive side, if there is one at all.
