Physics GRE 15 months ago

I was supposed to study for this exam over the summer. And I didn’t.

The test is in November. I have four real physics GRE exams. I need to take at least one a month. After I take the first one in August, I need to create a study plan for the various subjects then early in the semester I need to work out a study schedule. I won’t make it if I don’t put study time into my schedule. I think creating study sheets for each subject is certainly in order so that after I study a subject in detail I’ll have a quick reference version to go back over quickly as the date of the exam approaches.

I have one semester left in school and now I want to figure this out. This past semester I earned the worst grade of my college career which I blame on working with a group of people on the problem sets followed by a trip to the pub.

Studying was not one of my strong suits last semester. Better planning of my time and more face-time with my professors is in order for next semester.

Unexpected Success 16 months ago

While I wasn’t consciously trying to achieve this goal I lost 3-4 lbs from February to late March and then during the latter half of the semester and the beginning of the summer I lost another 6 lbs. I feel healthier than I ever remember feeling.

Looking back, I made some subtle lifestyle changes that made a large difference in my weight and health. Making better food choices and not overeating are key for me. When I go to a restaurant, I finally don’t feel the need to pack away my entire meal prior to leaving. In the dining hall at school, I was able to walk away from dessert most days unless I saw something I really wanted (I certainly stopped eating dessert twice a day). I finally know when to stop.

A site that I’ve resumed using to monitor my calorie consumption for the summer is The Daily Plate. The visualizations help me be more conscious of what I am consuming each day.
