Walking for The American Diabetes Association

Support Me
The ADA’s Walk for Diabetes is America’s premier walking event to benefit the American Diabetes Association—and the 20.8 million American adults and children who cope with type 1 and type 2 diabetes every day.

Why I Walk

I walk because in 2004 my grandmother died due to complications from her Type 1 diabetes.
I walk because my mother has Type 2.
I walk because over half of my adult family members have been diagnosed with either Type 1 or Type 2.
I walk because I hate this disease.
I walk because I don’t want to have to see another family go through what mine has.
I walk because I don’t want my family to go through it again.
For these reasons I walk.

Walking for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Support Me

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night® Walk is to raise funds to help fight cancer. The Society is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.

Why I Walk

I walk in honor of my four year old cousin who at two was diagnosed with Leukemia. He is currently cancer free and for that we are thankful.
I walk in honor of him, but also for all of those that I met while visiting him at the hospital – those that were not as fortunate as he.
I walk for the little girl with the purple bracelets that lost her battle. I still have my bracelet and I will wear it on the 15th of September.
I walk because I lost my grandfather to cancer. I lost my great aunt. I lost my great uncle, another great aunt, and more all to different forms of cancer. Cancer is ugly and evil.
I walk because three years ago they thought I had Lymphoma and that was enough to make me want them to find a cure immediately.
For them I walk and I hope and pray that by doing so I can some how help those that are fighting so hard to find a cure for this horrible disease.
