29) Jurassic Park – Michael Crichton

This book was amazing! Chrichton is my new favorite author. I love how he incorporates a lot of scientific theories and knowledge into his writing, while still keeping it interesting. I’ve already started on the second book.

28) Daemon Hall

I haven’t had the chance to read, with this past semester being particularly busy, but that’s not much of an excuse now is it? :(

27) Trick of the Mind-Judy Waite 3 months ago

Quick read, unexpected ending. I love the heart wrenching feeling I get when reading about an innocent person being framed and persecuted for a crime they did not commit.

26) Soldiers of Halla-D.J. MacHale 3 months ago

With this being the last book of the Pendragon series I flew through this one. While I did find it interesting and suspenseful, I was rather disappointed with how things turned out. The ending, in my opinion, was quite the let down. I just think that he could have done so much better. It’s taken 8 years to get to the end of it, and the Battle for Halla has finally ended. Hobey-ho, let’s go!

25.) Something Dangerous-Patrick Redmond 3 months ago

What a page turner! I was just dying to reach the end of this one and finished it in one sitting. The ending made me numb, but I kind of expected it. So much evil never ends with a happily ever after.

Not only was this book informative, but it was also very interesting. I only intended on reading one chapter of this for a Grammar class, but I ended up reading the whole thing. I’m glad I read this one; I’ve learned a lot from it.

23) Raven's Rise by D.J. MacHale 3 months ago

I was disappointed with this book. The climax wasn’t that interesting and there are still a lot of unanswered questions. Nevertheless, I plan on finishing off the series. Only one more book to go!

22.) The Ascent of Man- Bronowski 3 months ago

I walked into the library, got as far as the first shelf, saw the title of this book and knew I had to read it. It was strange really, sort of like the book was calling out to me. The front and back covers were plain, lacking anything but a title to spark my interest. Why I chose this particular book I have no idea. I completely devoured it though and I was pleased with its contents. If you have the chance, I suggest you read this one. It’s about the evolution of the intellect of man. I don’t usually ever enjoy reading about history, but this book was very interesting.

21) Pride and Prejudice and Zombies 3 months ago

This book instantly caught my eye and I knew I had to read it. I thought it would have been funnier, but it was still better than Jane Austen’s novel. The zombies greatly improve on the otherwise boring novel.

Although this goal has been extremely difficult for me, I’m making excellent progress. I’m used of consistent snacking throughout the day, but I slowly cut back on that and now I find that I can make it through the day without any snacking. Better yet, I don’t make up for it during my actual meals. I won’t mark this goal as done yet, I will leave it up for a bit longer to make sure I stick with the plan!

20. Darwin's Black Box- Michael Behe 5 months ago

We had to read part of this book for my Honors class last semester, and I just finally finished it off. The first few chapters were quite interesting, but after a while you find out that Behe keeps rehashing the same idea over and over. The repetitiveness of his arguments is the main reason why we stopped reading the book for class. This book is irreducible complexity this and irreducible complexity that. While he does make excellent points about Intelligent Design, most of his arguments are lacking evidence.

It wasn’t a bad novel, but then it wasn’t a great one either. It made for a very quick read, but I doubt I’ll read any of her other books.

Harry Potter re-reads! 5 months ago

18.) Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone
I love how every time I re-read these books I notice something new. It’s amazing how J.K. Rowling mentions every minor detail. Looking back on it, you can see that she knew exactly what she was planning with the entire series. All the answers were there, you just have to pay attention. Also, I was also amazed with how closely the movie follows this book. The director did an excellent job with it.

19.) Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
This is one I don’t particularly care too much for, but nevertheless it is still good. This book was another that I was surprised to realize it followed the movie very closely.

20.) Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
This one is always a pleasure to read. In my opinion, it is the best of the first three, book and movie wise. I absolutely love Lupin! He is a very interesting character. This one follows the movie pretty closely as well.

21.) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
This one was brilliant as well! Of course I knew that, but every time I re-read this series it just keeps getting better.

I haven’t started on the 5th book yet, I figured I’d take the rest of the day off. I don’t particularly like the 5th book. It has a great story line but I find it a bit slow. Nevertheless, I shall be reading it again! What I can’t wait for is when I get to the Half Blood Prince. That one is my absolute favorite; I’ve read that one loads of times!

The original book is so much different than the movie. I think I preferred the movie, but that may be because I grew up with the movie. I still plan on reading the rest of the series. We’ve had the whole series since before I was born, I just never got around to reading them.
